How to Clean Your Filter Cloth

The trapping properties of a filter cloth or filter fabric make it useful for a variety of industrial applications. Some of the common processes for which it is used include water purification, food processing, and sludge removal from liquid products.

If you have been using filter cloth in Qatar, you may also be aware of the common issues that affect its usage. Due to frequent use, the cloth gets filled with small particles that it is supposed to free the liquids from. With time, these start to penetrate the cloth and get lodged in the depth of its weave. This reduces the property of filterability. The particles therefore have to be removed periodically to maintain proper filtration rates.

A good and simple strategy to clean filter cloths is to do the cleaning when the cloths are still set up on the filter press plates. There is a certain mechanism to do this and the special units needed for the action are holding tank, pumps, re-circulating pipes and valves. Your filter press supplier can provide you these things. Do take care to ensure that the cleaning solution does not spout from between the filter plates as you begin to clean up the cloth. This is important in lieu of the fact that these cleansing liquids contain components like hydrochloric acid mixed with non-ionic detergent at ambient temperature. Caustic solutions may also be used as per the kind of contaminant being removed from the cloth. Polypropylene fabrics can be cleaned in various solutions as their fibre is highly tolerant to acids and alkalis.
